Weiss Bands is dedicated to creating an extraordinary musical experience for high school students.
Our aim is to transform the way young individuals engage with music, providing a platform for them to showcase their talent and passion.

Ian Young is in his 10th year in public education and his third year at Weiss High School. Before joining Weiss High School, Mr. Young was the Assistant Director of Bands at Burnet High School in Burnet, Texas.
During this time, Burnet High School made multiple state marching band appearances and achieved a third-place finish in 2020. Before Burnet, Mr. Young was the Assistant Director at Ropes High School in Ropesville, Texas, during which time the Ropes band received a second-place finish at the state marching contest. Mr. Young started his teaching career in Lexington, Texas, as the Assistant Director, helping the band earn superior ratings for the first time in several years.
In 2011, Mr. Young marched tuba with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in their production of “Juliet.” In 2018, Mr. Young was a tech for the Weiss Band program and assisted the band in earning their first BOA Super Regional finals appearance in St. Louis, Missouri.
Originally from Austin, Texas, Mr. Young attended Blinn Junior College and Texas Tech University, where he received his Bachelor’s in Music Education. Mr. Young studied tuba under Dr. Kevin Wass (Texas Tech) and Mr. Larry Campbell (Blinn College), as well as conducting from Dr. Eric Allen (Texas Tech). Mr. Young's professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi, a national honorary band fraternity.
Mr. Young currently resides in Leander, Texas, with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children.

John Wesley is in his seventh year in education and his third year at Weiss High School, overseeing the Symphonic Band and the Jazz Band. He previously taught at Giddings High School in Giddings, TX, and Simpson County School District in Mendenhall, MS.
Mr. Wesley attended William Carey University and earned a Bachelor of Music in Education. He studied under Dr. Patrick Richards and Dr. Wes Dykes. Mr. Wesley was a member of the William Carey Wind Ensemble, Chorale Orchestra, the pit orchestras for productions of Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Loewe and Lerner’s Camelot, and other small ensembles. He is a past member of the Elsewhen Community Orchestra located in Mobile, AL.
Mr. Wesley is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Texas State Teachers Association.
In his free time, Mr. Wesley enjoys reading, gaming, cooking, and spending time outdoors.
Assistant Band Director
Jon Wesley

Emely Chacon is the assistant director of the Weiss Band, where she began her career in 2022. She oversees all aspects of the woodwind program, as well as directing the Concert Band.
Ms. Chacon is a native Texan from San Antonio. Before her position at Weiss, she attended Texas State University, where she received her Bachelor of Music Education. During her time at Texas State, Ms. Chacon studied clarinet with Dr. Vanguel Tangarov. She gained experience performing with various ensembles such as the Texas State Symphonic Winds, Bobcat Marching Band, Texas State Clarinet Choir, and other small ensembles.
Ms. Chacon's professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, and International Clarinet Association.
Outside of music Ms. Chacon enjoys spending time with family in San Antonio, traveling, and being active.
Assistant Band Director
Emely Chacon

Hunter Langhans has been the Percussion Director at Weiss High School since 2022. Before joining the team at Weiss, he spent two years as the Percussion Director for Greenville ISD, and one year as the Assistant Percussion Director at Grapevine High School.
A native of New Bern, North Carolina, Mr. Langhans graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas, where he studied under Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, Paul Rennick, and Michael Drake. While at UNT, Mr. Langhans performed with numerous ensembles, including the UNT Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Green Brigade Marching Band, and PASIC champion UNT Snare Ensemble. He was also a snare drummer for the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Langhans has worked for numerous award-winning programs in the North Texas area, including Birdville HS, Lovejoy HS, Newman Smith HS, and the WGI Scholastic World Finalist, Burleson Centennial Indoor Drumline. Prior to graduation, Mr. Langhans student-taught at Rick Reedy High School and Pioneer Heritage Middle School in Frisco ISD.

Landy Wyatt Roberson is a Texas transplant by way of Mountain Home, Arkansas. They have been teaching high school color guard programs all over Texas for the past eight years.
In addition to teaching, Landy spent four years marching DCI as well as six years marching Independent World Class in the winter seasons, with programs such as Crossmen, The Cavaliers, Cypress Independent, and Invictus World.
When Landy is not doing color guard, they are a pet lover, and avid outdoorsman. Their hobbies include swimming, hiking, and supporting the local ballroom community in Austin.
Landy is stoked to join the Weiss Band Family and share their passion for the activity with the next generation of young performers.
